I don’t know about you, but there are just a few things I really *hate* cleaning in the kitchen. If it’s a stove or microwave – no problem. I don’t even mind scrubbing down my big stand mixer, but I do have a few things that make me crazy when it comes to washing them by hand.

Let’s count down from #5.

5. The peeler
This is not horribly difficult to clean, but I’m always annoyed when I do it. This may in part be due to the fact that I am not a graceful person and any time I have to put my fingers this close to a blade or sharp surface of any kind, it’s not a good thing.

4. The pasta twirler scooper thing
Complete pain in the you know what. Does a great job with the pasta, but I HATE scrubbing this thing.

3. Large wire wisk
It really doesn’t matter of it’s a large wisk or a small one – they’re all annoying to clean. Scrubbing each little piece of wire… gah. Bonkers.

2. (horrible photo on this one, but it is what it is) – The potato masher thing
We use this as much for guacamole and refried beans as we do for potatoes, but no matter what you mash up with this, it’s awful to clean.

Now… for our number 1…

1. The Spider
I have so much hatred for cleaning this thing that I don’t even know where to start. It rips up scrubby sponges, I NEVER feel like I’ve REALLY gotten it clean, and although I LOVE it as a kitchen tool, I hate cleaning it.

I do realize that I could just put each and every one of these things in the dishwasher and believe me – I do as often as possible, but sometimes you just have to wash them by hand and when doing so, these are the kitchen tools I most dread seeing in my sink.
